Guidance

The Medical Emergency Courses can be used in two ways:

  • As part of training towards the GDC CPD requirements (10 hours are required we provide 8+ hours) Isopharm are not providing online CPR training as we do not believe you can carry out this training without a hands-on practical test.
  • As part of regular simulated emergency activity

General Dental Council

‘6.6.6 Medical emergencies can happen at any time in a dental practice. You must make sure that:

  • There are arrangements for at least two people to be available within the working environment to deal with medical emergencies when treatment is planned to take place;
  • All members of staff, including those not registered with the GDC, know their role if there is a medical emergency; and
  • All members of staff who might be involved in dealing with a medical emergency are trained and prepared to do so at any time, and practise together regularly in a simulated emergency so they know exactly what to do.’

Resuscitation Council (UK)

All staff including non-clinical staff should receive regular resuscitation training for adults and children.

Various methods can be used to acquire and maintain training:

  • Simulation training with a manikin
  • Rolling refreshers
  • E:learning
  • Video based

Hands-on training using simulation and including an assessment is recommended for clinical staff.

Isopharm Terms & Conditions – As a subscriber to this online training, you agree that the term ‘online training’ is as defined by Isopharm Limited. As a subscriber you also understand that not all training required by dental professionals can be carried out online. For example, although medical emergencies online training is provided by Isopharm, it is recommended by the Resus Council that Resuscitation (CPR) is carried out via ‘hands on’ training for clinical staff.
