Course Details:

This course takes an in depth look at Dental Water Hygiene Risk Assessments.

You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.

If you achieve 80% or more you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder. 

If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and take the assessment again when you feel confident.

Aims:

The aim of this course is to understand what is required in a Legionella Risk Assessment as well as the requirements around water hygiene.

Objectives:

Learners will be able to:

  • Detail the difference between a Legionella Risk Assessment and a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment
  • Identify what a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment should include 
  • Scope and commission a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment
  • Identify hazards and risks with regard to water quality safety in their practice using the causal chain (CATES)

  • The difference between a Legionella Risk Assessment and a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment
  • How to use the causal chain to identify hazards and potential risks with regard to water quality safety, and then work to reduce these risks to as low as reasonably possible (ALARP)
  • How to write a scope for a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment
  • Who should undertake a Water Hygiene Risk Assessment
  • Why and how to undertake service provider competence checks
  • What a schematic diagram of water services is and how it is used to understand actions identified within the Water Quality Risk Assessment
