Course Details:

This course will raise COSHH awareness and identify the basic measures that can be adopted in a dental practice to reduce the risk to those who may be affected by undertakings to a reasonably acceptable level and comply with company and statutory obligations. 

You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment. 

If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident. 

Aims:

To provide information and instruction to: 

  • Outline the fundamental legal requirements.
  • Identify best practice in the workplace to control exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Continuously improve COSHH standards and procedures.

Objectives:

Learners will: 

  • Identify the COSHH regulations and some key elements.
  • Understand what are hazardous substances and their effects.
  • Know the principles of a COSHH assessment.
  • Identify key COSHH labels/symbols, and know how to find further substance information.

Learning Outcomes:

 Learners will: 

  • Have gained an understanding of how to comply with the COSHH Regulations legally.
  • Know how to adopt best practice methods within the workplace to manage risk.
  • Be able to conduct a suitable and sufficient risk assessment (COSHH  assessment) to identify the significant hazards, implement effective mitigating controls and record their findings.
  • Be able to update policies and procedures in association with the knowledge gained.
