Course Details:

HTM 01-05 reference 6.3 states all dental staff should be aware that “As part of essential quality requirements, training in hand hygiene should be part of staff inductions and be provided to all relevant staff within dental practices periodically throughout the year”. 

This course will teach learners how to effectively perform hand hygiene and how to comply with the associated legislation.

You will be presented with a presentation followed by an assessment. 

If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course, and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and take the assessment again when you feel confident. 

Aims:

This course will teach learners how to effectively perform hand hygiene and how to comply with the associated legislation.

Objectives:

Learners will: 

  • Be able to perform a clinical hand wash
  • Understand the different types of hand hygiene
  • Understand when hand hygiene should be performed

Learning Outcomes:

The learner will be able to: 

  • List the correct stages for performing a clinical hand wash
  • List the correct stages for performing a hand rub
  • Outline what nail care is appropriate
  • List when hand hygiene is required
