Once you have completed this course please move onto Legal & Ethical (Course 6): Ethical Implications of Dental Research & Development
You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
If you achieve 80% or more you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder.
If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and take the assessment again when you feel confident.

- Work effectively with colleagues in patients’ best interests
- Recognise and observe current Scope of Practice and Fitness to Practice requirements
- Review guidance and regulations to develop working practices
- Identify ethical and professional obligations regarding the development of well-communicated norms for working respectfully with colleagues in the best interests of patients
- Consider the need to communicate effectively with colleagues to support good practice throughout the team
- Define practical ways that ethical values can be embedded into working practices, policies and procedures
The learner understands:
- The importance of building trust and respect
- How to express concerns about a colleague’s work or behaviour, when it may be harmful to patients or the profession
- Recognise and support the fulfilment of colleagues’ responsibilities within the practice
- The need to ensure work colleagues are consulted and informed about changes to the organisation of the practice
- Importance of ensuring that work delegated to DCPs is within their skills and scope of practice.
