Course Details:

This course intends to provide a basis to further develop the learner's experience in performing manual handling assessments and how to adopt suitable techniques.

You will be presented with a short presentation, followed by an assessment. 

If you achieve 80% or more, you will pass the course, and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder.

 If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and take the assessment again when you feel confident. 

Aims:

To provide information and instruction to: 

  • Outline the common causes of manual handling accidents and injuries sustained in the workplace.
  • Understand what manual handling is defined as.
  • Identify the reasons and requirements of performing a manual handling assessment, and how to introduce suitable controls.
  • Continuously improve.

Objectives:

Learners will: 

  • Identify the fundamental legal requirements for manual handling.
  • Understand the need to perform a manual handling assessment to reduce the risk within the workplace.
  • Understand the dangers of back pain, how it is caused and what can be done to prevent it.
  • Be confident in risk assessing any manual handling tasks that are to be undertaken.
  • Be able to adopt good manual handling techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to apply the information and instruction gained to their working environment.
  • Be able to make improvements to reduce exposure to manual handling risks.
