Course Details

  • You will be presented with a lecture followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
  • Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
  • If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course outlines the regulatory framework in place to ensure patient safety in dental practices, covers the health and safety-related aspects of GDC Standard 1 and details how dental teams can meet that standard. 

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

  • Explain the relevance of GDC Standard 1.
  • Understand the KLOEs relating to patient safety. 
  • Understand which HTM documents are relevant and what the minimum standards are.
  • Understand the importance of the 7 pillars of clinical governance and how they relate to their practice and patient safety.
  • Understand the key principles for safeguarding vulnerable adults.
