The Dental Hygienist Scope of Practice

Course Details

• This course takes the learner through what is required and what is expected of a dental hygienist. 
• You will be presented with a coursebook followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course aims to help learners understand the dental hygienist's role by highlighting their scope of practice and importance within the profession.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

• Identify all aspects of the dental hygienists scope of practice.
• Identify the role of the dental hygienist in the dental team.
• Identify the positive impact dental hygienists have on patients and their oral health.

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

• The role of the dental hygienist when treating patients.
• The dental hygienists scope of practice as set out by the General Dental Council.
• The importance of a dental hygienist and their role within the multidisciplinary dental team.
